A devastating fire erupted at the Adams Caps and Textile Ltd and Jihong Medical Company warehouses in Chattogram’s Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) around 2 PM on Thursday. Despite four hours of continuous effort, the fire remains uncontrolled as of 6 PM. The Fire Service deployed 15 units, while the Bangladesh Navy sent 4 additional units to assist. Thick black smoke has engulfed the area, and the fire has spread from the seventh floor to the lower levels.
Officials confirmed that approximately 700 workers were inside the building, but all were safely evacuated. No injuries or casualties have been reported. Authorities suspect that the presence of flammable materials inside the factory made the firefighting process more challenging. Firefighters continue their operation alongside Navy personnel to bring the situation under control.
